Its summertime now Wrightsville Beach charter fishing is heating up, Spanish mackerel are being caught trolling on 00 gold and silver Clark spoons the early morning bites are best right now. King mackerel are beginning to show up on the ledges and hard bottom areas within 10 miles of Wrightville Beach’s shoreline. With the arrival of live menhaden, slow trolling for king mackerel and dolphin will ensure an action-packed fishing charter. The 10-mile rock area is a great place to slow troll live menhaden for I have caught several large king mackerel, and normally we will catch a nice cobia or two every season, so when you plan your next fishing trip be sure to include the Cape Fear Guide in your Wrightsville Beach fishing Fishing Vacation.

Inshore Fishing Masonboro Inlet the double-wall jetty at Wrightsville Beach, N.C. is not only one of the safest inlets in our area. The rock walls hold quite a few Speckled Trout, Flounder, Red Drum. I have drifted this is many times for flounder, using finger mullet on Carolina Rigs with great success. Some days I will take a family to the inlet and just anchor up, and still have a successful charter trip catching flounder.

Speckled Trout fishing in the fall around the jetties has always been good, whether you are casting mirror lures or jigs with soft plastics, I have had success with both methods.

Red Drum can be caught along the rock jetty walls, these fish also tend to hold around the very ends of the jetties. When I first moved to Wrightsville Beach it was mostly fished by the young locals, but now it seems everyone with a boat from the Wilmington area is fishing.

I guess nothing stays the same, things have to grow and change, I sure do miss the early 70’s when it was just mostly the locals fishing. I sure did learn a lot from Bubba Cox, Randy Covart, some of the others that fished on Crystal Pier. One thing that has always stuck with me is to fish with the lightest lines and rigs you can get away with, you will get more strikes, and catch more fish! Wrightsville Beach Charter Fishing will always bring many memories back, when I was a lot younger.
