Snow's Cut Fishing

Snow’s Cut Fishing

Snow’s Cut fishing Carolina Beach at the right time can be an awesome place to fish this particular morning, everything was just right. I had a nice family onboard, the father wanted to introduce his daughters & wife to a great morning of inshore fishing.

Bait

Finger Mullet, we were using 4″ to 6″ mullets that I had caught with the cast net, right at N.C. Wildlife boat landing at 220 Annie Drive in Carolina Beach, N.C.

Date July 23, 2020 weather was humid with the temperature reaching around 91 degrees by lunchtime.

Rods and Reels

A 7′ rod sold by “The Reel Outdoors” out of Emerald Isle N.C. TRO817S0 8 – 17 test line HG19 this a reasonable price spinning rod that seems to hold up well on my charters. A  Penn Fierce 3000 spinning reel filled with Ande 15lb. test premium line.

Hooks 1/0 Kahle hooks by Eagle Claw these are bronze hooks they are sharp I can be used over again, just sharpened the point.

The morning started out catching fish with the first drop of line hitting the water, it was almost like a magic reference to “Harry Potter movies.” The action was so fast I really can’t remember whether we landed a Red Drum first or was it the 10lb. flounder that hit the deck first, wow that was one big flounder!. We had several times with multiple hook-ups of Red Drum some of the fish were well over the slot size of 18″ to 27″. Landing several nice flounders, sure hated to throw those fish over the side, our flounder season is closed right now will open on August 16, 2020. The action on board my boat that morning was just unreal, I noticed that a boat had started to pay a lot of attention to what was going on so I told the charter to let’s move on out of this area. We moved on to another spot on the inland waterway just beyond Carolina Inlet landed a keeper Speckled Trout which I kept for lunch, all the other fish caught that morning were released.
