Inshore Fishing

Inshore fishing abounds in the creeks behind Bald Head Island, Bald Head Creek, Fishing Creek, Cape Creek, Bay Creek, Deep Creek are all excellent places to catch the Red Drum, Flounder, Speckled Trout. Capt. Mike uses live bait tactics to catch the inshore species, using artificial bait when the bite demands a different bait.
These inshore charters are a great way to experience the outdoors for the scenery in these creeks are really beautiful and peaceful with a variety of coastal birds to admire in their natural settings. Lots of families prefer the inshore charters for they are mostly calm waters charters. The backwater charters offer fishing in Buzzard Bay which is a shallow-water flat made up of 3 different bays winding turns and marsh islands. The bays have lots of oysters beds throughout the banks with some areas having oysters the extend above the water at low tide. Excellent habitat for fish, red drum flounders, and speckled trout love these structures.

Slow Trolling King Mackerel

Slow trolling for King mackerel and Spanish mackerel is another popular option for fishing Bald Head Island. The Yaupon Reef is one of my favorite spots for slow trolling it about 3 miles out, plenty of structures that hold King Mackerel. King Mackerel hit very hard and fast with usually one long run with several shorter runs and takeoffs when the boat is spotted. Fish size runs from 10 lb. to 50 lb. which is an awesome catch on live bait rods.
