Bill Drewer took his daughter inshore fishing today along with one her friends,morning started out a little slow,at the first two stops,tide had not started to fall yet,my last stop,the tide had begun to fall,and the red drum bite was on ! Tyler Drewer and Adrian Miller both caught their first red fish today,it’s always great to see children,really having fun on the water,fishing,can be a fun experience,and a life time memory.
The Cape Fear River is a great place to take children fishing,for it offers calm waters in the smaller creeks,and does not require a long ride out in the ocean to catch fish.

Bruce Morcom charter the boat today to take his son and a friend fishing today,bait was a little hard to get first thing this morning,but I kept casting the net till the bait well was full. My first stop yield no bites, except for crabs, after about 15 minutes,I moved to my second hole.
It did not take long at all, the first bait hit the water and wham! hooked up with a red drum,nice slot size fish.
We landed that fish,and put out another line,wham another red drum,this fish gave a real good fight,before we could land the fish we had,another red fish on.double hook ups,landed both red fish.Bite was just really hot we caught six red drum in about twenty minutes along with a large blue fish !
That is what the Cape Fear River red drum fishing is all about lot’s of action,man what a great morning of red fishing !

Today started out slow, bait was a little hard to get,tide was up high but had already started falling,managed to fall in throwing the cast net this morning,that really cooled me off ! Finally managed to get enough bait to fish with,just had to wait for the tide to start back rising for the fish to bite,finally ended the day up with a limit of red drum,fished with a great bunch of men that made the day really enjoyable.

August 7th,2008 my charter today did not bother to call or inform me that they were not going to show up !
I waited for over an hour then called a Bill Neely a friend of mine and asked him if he wanted to fish this morning,he came right over,we fished right here at Carolina Beach Inlet for flounder,I caught a 18′ flounder at the 2nd spot we stopped. Tried a few more holes,then moved to Snow’s Cut and Bill hooked up with a over the slot red drum,the fish really gave him a good fight.

I fished on July 30,2008, behind Bald Head Island found the Red Drum biting,along with a few speckle trout,the summer time heat is upon us,but proper clothing and sun screen does help along with drinking plenty of water.Red Drum fishing is one of the most exciting inshore fish you will ever catch,don’t miss out on the bite !

Flounder,Speckle Trout, Red Drum have been biting for the last 3 weeks,in the creeks just off the
Cape Fear River,today was no different I ended this week off with a Cape Fear Guide Grand Slam ! Live bait fishing for me has really paid off,Gary Ward caught a 26” speckle trout this afternoon own live bait,this was a really large speckle trout I estimated the fish to 5 1/2 to 6 lb.

July 15,2008 Red Fish bite was exciting this afternoon fishing with the Cape Fear Guide - Capt.Mike Dennis,being quite aproaching the fishing spots,paid off with lot’s of Red Fish just off the Cape Fear River.

I have fished the last three days for Red Drum,the fish are biting, James Davis from Wilmington fished with me this afternoon,catching Red Drum.till the aproaching thunder storm cut the trip short.

I took Paul Kuegler,David,and Joe his two son’s inshore fishing this morning the wind was blowing about about 15 knt. skies were grey looking,the Cape Fear River was choppy,but the young boys were ready to catch some fish,and they did a great job landing Red Fish & Flounder.
