Memorial Day Weekend Fishing

Tuesday, May 28th, 2013

Memorial Day Weekend inshore fishing has been slow period. The last three days of inshore fishing I have have to work really hard to find the fish, moved around from one bay to another, tried several different creeks used multiple methods of fishing to produce fish. The weather was near perfect with light winds and mild temperatures it was a great being being out on the Cape Fears backwaters ! For those of you reading my fishing report for the first time,I write what is called a honest report,if the fish are really biting,I will tell you the truth not some made up fishing report.

Carolina Beach Fishing

Sunday, May 19th, 2013

Carolina Beach fishing has started with the arrival of the Spanish mackerel and blue fish just in time for Memorial Day weekend.Spanish mackerel can be caught just outside the inlet, the most productive method is trolling.I use a light trolling rod with 30 lb. test line, with a #1 sea striker planer 30 lb, test leaders with a small Clark spoon is deadly on Spanish mackerel. The last two days of fishing has produced good numbers of fish with quite a few four pound fish, weather has really been ideal, light winds have made for excellent condition for trolling.
