Cape Lookout Jetty - TroutSpeckle TroutEarly Morning
Cape Lookout Jetty has been holding quite a few speckle trout the last couple of weeks some of the best fishing of the year has been in the last couple of weeks with some days producing the limit of speckle trout in the 2 lb. to 4 lb. range.Fished with my brother Greg Dennis owner of the Reel Outdoors in Emerald Isle,N.C. on November 18TH found the bite to be mostly speckle trout in the 12″ to 13 1/2″ range with a few larger fish mixed in. Lot’s of under size fish were caught, with some larger fish laying close to the rock jetty. The bite was steady most of the day, with only a few minutes of slow fishing, counted 58 boats fishing that day, every boat seemed to be catching small trout, we ended up with about 7 or 8 keeper trout.Cape Lookout Jetty is a very popular speckle trout fishing spot some days there may be 100 plus boats competing for the trout so keep in mind be courteous to your fellow anglers. Most any jig with a sparkly plastic body seemed to work well, I liked the green chartreuse color the best.
