Cape Fear Guide Fishing Report

Red drum fishing on the Cape Fear River is steadily improving with the arrival of more bait,equals more red drum.I fished yesterday on June 6, 2010 wind was blowing out of the southwest 20 - 25 knots. it was really tough just trying to get the anchor to hold.
Windy conditions made fishing tough,but with persistent casting we caught some really good size red drum.
Red drum - Sciaenops ocellatus is North Carolina’s state saltwater fish.These fish are iridescent silvery-gray overall with a beautiful copper color on the sides and back with a white belly.They normally have one black spot on the tail,but it is not unusual to see multiple spots on the tail.
